Mortgagee Sales & Auctions in Australia

While Australia has done quite ok compared to the rest of the world with regard to foreclosures, mortgagee sales and auctions, there appears to be enough out there for those looking to get a good property at a price not hyper inflated like the rest of the market.

You can get mortgagaee sales listings from the various real estate agents and banks. I was looking around for a few such properties but had to settle for a 6 month lease because it was not easy to find a collection of listings.

So, where can you find mortgagee property listings on the web? Answer: have a look at Oz Mortgagee.

Quick review :
Covers mortgagee, trustee and deceased listings. Has featured properties for NSW, VIC, SA, QLD and ACT. It covers mortgagee and trustee properties in the major city area suburbs around Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra as well as outer rural areas.

A search engine appears to let you check if there are mortgagee/trustee properties in a suburb. You enter your suburb in the search and get a chance to filter the results for Mortgagee, Trustee and Deceased listings (if there are any). If you click on one of the States links, you also have a chance to click on the first letter of the suburb name to see all suburbs starting with that letter. Clicking on a suburb name brings up search results as mentioned previously which needs to be filtered.

It does not (yet), cover WA, TAS and NT.

Kirsty Lee Akers

I had my radio on when driving home and heard an interview with a female singer called Kirsty Lee Akers. She had a very pleasant sounding voice and gave a very open interview. Showing she was not lacking talent-wise, a song of hers was played called Knocked Up. A most beautiful voice and an interesting song so say the least (I had to listen to the lyrics thinking I had misheard what it was about!)

You can watch the video clip here:

Hopefully she has a very successful music career and gets famous worldwide.

The Passing of Ettore Sottsass

Ok, hands up those of you who have even heard of who Ettore Sottsass was until now?

Not many would do so (Unless you found this blog via a search for sottsass of course).

The Art/Architecture world lost Ettore Sottsass in December 2007. He was 90 Years old. He will be best remembred for his legacy to the art & architectural community. His work was innovative, bold and at times quirky, but was always held in high esteem by his peers.

Among his most famous works was the infamous Olivetti Red Typewritter.

You can view some his available works available for purchase at The Sottsas Store

Playstation Price Cut

Sony has suprised everyone and cut the price of the Playstation 3 by $100. It has never been a better time to buy a Playstation 3 as Sony are highly unlikely to make another price cut. The price of the 60GB PS3 is $499 now.

Sony have also announced that they will bring the 80GB PS3 into the US market for $599 next month.

You can already see the price cuts at the Playstation Bible site, so head over and begin buying now!!!

Live Earth Favourites

OK, I watched Live Earth on cable and enjoyed many of the performances across the world. I'll be honest - I did fall asleep on some of the newer big name performances. Some of the newer big acts (no names to be mentioned) sound good on your MTV, radio and MP3s but generally are not so good in a live performance.

This post is for 2 of the performances that really caught my attention.
My favourite performance was a song called "From Little Things Big Things Grow", sung in the Australian Live Earth by Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins, Tim Conway and John Butler. This song stuck in my head long after all the other performances. One thing I have to say, Missy Higgins is sooo cute in this song. I just loved this performance and would reccommend you all have a look at this video if you missed it:

The concert in Japan featured a band called Rize. WOW, these guys rocked big time. I thought they were going to be just another wanna be metallic/hard rock band but they totally held their own. My mum actually watched the entire performance which suprised me and just shows how well they captured the attention of the audience. The US singers performances at the Live Earth Japan afterwards felt extremely lackluster and Xzibit for example did not come even close to the audience reaction that Rize got.

Check out the performance by Rize here - do watch the entire performance to see how good they were:

Captain America Collectables

Ok, how many of you actually collected Captain America comics? I read them but could never get into them to go buy or collect them.

As with all things, there are folks out there who are hardcore fans. Of particular interest is a few auctions going where Captain America memorabilia is giving Spider Man a run for the money.

Click the following for examples of Captain America Statues on auction and the number of bids going:

or check Captain America Statues Auctions for more.

That's just one example. Will a Captain America movie make them worth more, unlikely perhaps unless it is as successful as the SpiderMan movies.
